Arvo Part 의 Tintinnabuli

Arvo Pärt (1935 - ) 20 - 21세기의 leading composer의 한 사람인 Arvo Pärt (아르보 패르트) - 그는, 1935년 Estonina (구 Soviet Union)의 Paide에서 출생, 1957 - 1963년 Tallinn Conservatory에서 음악수업을 하였다. 단절된 구 Soviet Union의 교육의 영향으로 그의 초기 작품들은 Shostakovich나 Prokofiev등 neoclassic 성향을 보였으나 수차의 변화를 거쳐 마침내 1976년 "Tintinnabuli (틴틴나불리)"라는 새 기법을 발견하고 지금까지 이 독특한 style의 음악을 즐겨 쓰고 있다. Tintinnabuli (in Latin, little bells)에 관해 Arvo Part는 다음과 같이 설명하고 있다: "I have discovered that it is enough when a single note is beautifully played. This one note, or a silent beat, or a moment of silence, comforts me. I work with very few elements - with one voice, two voices". "I build with primitive materials - with the triad, with one specific tonality. The three notes of a triad are like bells and that is why I call it tintinnabulation." 1980년 서방 세계로 망명, 아내 Nora, 두 아들과 함께 이스라엘로 이주를 원했으나, 그의 출판사의 도움으로 Vienna를 거쳐 독일 Berlin에 거주하다가 고향 에스토니아로 되 돌아가 지금은 Tallinn에 살고있다. 아래는 그의 tintinnabulation의 대표적인 곡, "Für Alina", "Fratres"와 "Spiegel im Spiegel" 이다. Für Alina Alexander Malter, Piano 악보대로라면 이 곡은 약 2분, 15 bar의 짧은 곡이다. 그러나 연주자는 "조용하게, 기품있게, 자신의 내면을 경청하며 (calm, exalted, listening to one's inner self)" 쓰여진 note 내에서 즉흥적으로 연주하도록 요구하고 있다. Fur Alina (arr for solo guitar) by Marek Pasieczny ****** Fratres for Strings Chilingirian Quartet Fratres (프라트래스, 형제들의 의미인 라틴어로 종교적 의미를 담고 있다)는 8 첼로, 12 첼로, 현악합주와 타악기의 편성, 바이올린과 피아노를 위한 이중주 등 여러 버전이 있다. ****** Spiegel im Spiegel for Violin and Piano Thomas Kemp, violin Stephen De Pledge, piano 원래 single piano 와 violin을 위해 쓰여진 곡이나 cello, viola, 혹은 clarinet이나 horn으로 연주 되기도 한다. "Spiegel im Spiegel" 은 거울속의 거울 (Mirror in the mirror)의 의미로 평행한 두개의 거울이 빚어내는 무한의 가시적인 효과를 표현하고 있다 한다.
